Physical Education Teacher (Foundation–Year 6) – CRITICAL Short-Term Role
About the Role
We seek an experienced, highly motivated, and enthusiastic Physical Education (PE) Teacher to deliver engaging classes for Prep to Year 6. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- A deep knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum, particularly for PE
- Expertise in designing rigorous, student-centred lessons suited to diverse learners
- A strong commitment to fostering sporting participation and inclusive student well-being
This term-specific appointment begins early Term 3 and will likely extend throughout the school year, with potential for longer-term commitment if team requirements persist. This role may offer additional term-time hours in collaboration with a local Catholic primary school.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver differentiated, inclusive, and engaging PE lessons aligned with Victorian Curriculum standards.
- Develop a F–6 PE curriculum, ensuring coverage of fundamental movement skills, team sports, and holistic fitness.
- Manage class engagement, student welfare, and effective classroom behaviour through Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL) strategies.
- Support and coordinate representative school sports and event organisation, including administration and logistics.
- Contribute to a Catholic learning environment, promoting faith values, Community and Service learning principles.
- Maintain child-safe protocols (policy compliance, reporting, awareness).

Qualifications & Experience
Mandatory:
✔ Minimum: Current VIT registration (teaching qualifications in [PE/Sports Education preferred]) ✔ Proven expertise as a PE teacher Foundation to Year 6 ✔ Demonstrated knowledge of:
- Victorian Curriculum & Visions for Instruction and Engagement
- Science of Learning to improve student outcomes
- Differentiated instructional strategies
✔ Strong understanding of Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL) and child protection frameworks
Preferred but Considered Additional Advantages:
✔ Experience in inclusive educational practices, accommodating students with diverse needs ✔ Background in extracurricular leadership (e.g., captaincy, coaching) and event management ✔ Contribution to a faith-based school environment

- Ability to cultivate meaningful professional relationships with students, parents, and staff.
- Create a safe, supportive, and motivated learning environment in line with child-safe principles.
- Embrace collaborative and innovative teaching methods for maximum student engagement.
