Sports Science & High Performance Coach – Performance Tennis

About the LTA

We’re The LTA – the UK’s governing body for tennis and padel, championing a vision of ‘Tennis Opened Up’ and a mission to transform communities through inclusive, inspiring, and welcoming sport. With padel’s rapid growth, we’re passionate about helping bring this expansive, engaging game to more players across the country.

About This Exceptional Opportunity

Within this vision, performance tennis is central to redefining what ‘world-class’ means for British players: ambitious, collaborative and relentless in pursuit of excellence. This role within our LTA Performance department will shape the physical capability, resilience and competitive readiness of Britain’s most promising tennis talent, ensuring their performance aligns with the rigorous demands of the professional tour schedule.

Based at the National Tennis Centre and across national/international competition environments, you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering physically prepared players—driven by individualised programming, high-quality diagnostic assessments, and integrated support from a multi-disciplinary team (coaches, sports scientists, sports psychologists, etc.).

Key Responsibilities

You must be a high-performance coach with proven success in:

  • Understanding the fundamental components of sustained excellence in elite tennis (including physiology, psychology, professional behaviours and standards).
  • Balancing long-term development with short-term performance needs, accounting for fatigue, travel and the demanding schedules of professional athletes.
  • Conducting physical diagnostics to efficiently identify athletic strengths, limitations and risks—and translating these findings into targeted, adaptable preparation.
  • Managing optimal preparation (recovery, training load, nutritional support, tactical balancing) for players and teams competing in local/regional and international events.
  • Responding independently to technical and medical problems, ensuring consistency, adaptability, and sustained resilience in performance.
  • Demonstrating exemplary professional behaviours, including communications with parents/players, peer colleagues, and expert partners.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
