General Summary
The Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating/assessing needs of patients and formulating treatment plans based on the specific needs of the patient. The Physical Therapist will work cooperatively with physicians and other healthcare providers to provide the therapy services defined in the treatment plan. This position may supervise Physical Therapy Assistants, Techs, and Athletic Trainers in the process of meeting patient needs.
Main Responsibilities
- Interview patients of all age groups to assess needs based on the patients daily functions/work functions
- Formulate a treatment plan for the patient and collaborate with other healthcare providers as needed
- Provide patient with encouragement and emphasize “self-responsibility” for success to achieve goals to maximize functional improvement
- Reassess and modify treatments (observing precautions) routinely to improve function and return patients to their normal life pattern
- Document tests, findings, symptoms, and therapeutic treatments for each patient carefully, utilizing the EMR (Electronic Medical Records)
- Ensure that complete Holston Medical Group Rehabilitation Services discharge practices are followed for each patient
- Assist in creating an integrated care environment that is efficient, safe, and cost effective
- Participates in departmental meetings and continues to apply themselves in evidence-based practice initiatives
- Continues to further knowledge and keep abreast of the PT community
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment/and equipment
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements
- Build quality relationships with patients, physicians/providers, and co-workers

Education/Experience/Knowledge
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
- Physical Therapy state license required
- BCLS required
- 0-2 Years experience
- Must possess good diagnostic and clinical skills
- Must possess excellent communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with others

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers and the public. Ability to interact appropriately with colleagues and patients for different purposes and different context. Heavy work excreting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move object.

- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 25% of the time. Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips. Work independently and identify potentially more effective methods of work operations. Observing an area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point. Ability to identify and distinguish colors. Occasionally operates computer and other machinery.
