• A wide range of community health services, including adult and child physical care services in Camden, Hillingdon, Milton Keynes and Ealing
• A comprehensive range of mental health services, community and inpatient for adults, children and adolescents from early intervention and psychological therapies to inpatient treatment or long-term rehabilitation care. This includes specialist services for Addictions, Eating Disorders and Learning Disability
• Mental health, addictions and primary health care services in many HM Prisons and Young Offender Institutions in London, Kent, Surrey, Hampshire and Buckinghamshire
• Sexual and reproductive health services, including walk-in services in central London and Hillingdon

We hold grants from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), and our primary research focus is on characterising acute illness in the context of frailty, specifically delirium and its longitudinal outcomes. However, we are equally flexible in tailoring plans to suit the interests of the successful applicant.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities

• Provide holistic, evidence-based care for multi-pathology patients on Rochester West Ward, making clinical diagnoses and decisions within the scope of practice, based on strong clinical examination skills, evidence-based practice, and Trust protocols.
• Clinically assess patients, ensuring safety and quality of care, and escalate or de-escalate medical oversight as appropriate.
• Utilise appropriate bedside tests and available investigations in combination with extended clinical skills to support the assessment, diagnosis, and ongoing management of patients in the rehab/intermediate care setting.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team to promote continuity, communication, and quality of care.
• Support the development and quality improvement of the rehabilitation service, contributing ideas, feedback, and clinical insight to enhance patient outcomes and service efficiency.

Essential criteria

• Use of patient and hospital databases
• Ability to work within clinical governance guidelines

Desirable criteria

• Experience of clinical audit and/or quality improvement projects
• Experience of teaching and supervision

• PG Dip in Physician Associate studies from a UK training programme
• Current & valid certification or recertification by the PA national examination
• Registration with the UK Managed Voluntary Registry for PAs

Desirable criteria

• MSc in Physician Associate studies from a UK training programme
• Degree/qualification in Biomedical Sciences

Clinical Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

Essential criteria

• Ability to organise, prioritise workload and take responsibility for the clinical care of patients under the supervision of the medical team
• Ability to prioritise clinical need
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives, nurses, other staff, and agencies
• Aware of own limitations, and when to escalate for senior review
• Relevant clinical experience and training in inpatient hospital services, with evidence of competence appropriate to the role
• Experience of service design and improvement

Desirable criteria

• Be able to demonstrate an interest in microbiology / infection management, antimicrobial and diagnostic stewardship
• Knowledge of antibiotics and NICE guidelines
