Physiotherapy Assistant Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Physiotherapy Assistant to support the delivery of our Neurological Physiotherapy Outpatient service.

About the Role

The ESHT Rehabilitation strategy is focused on improving the quality and performance of our acute and community services to deliver high quality rehabilitation across East Sussex. This is a dynamic and changing environment, and the strategy is working to support our staff, teams and the organisation as a whole to make meaningful changes that bring about improvements in rehabilitation for the benefit of our population. The role of the band 3 Physiotherapy Assistant is key in delivering our strategy.

Responsibilities

  • To undertake specific support work to aid in the rehabilitation of patients either 1-2-1 or in a classroom exercise and education session.
  • To support rehabilitation programmes following competency and training.
  • To assist the physiotherapists and technical Instructors with complex cases that requires two people to treat.
  • To work unsupervised, reporting back on patient progress and informing the physiotherapist of any problems.
  • To assist in the induction of new assistant staff, students, apprentice and junior physiotherapists.
  • To accept patients referred by a physiotherapist and carry as own patient caseload. Monitor patient progression and make minor alterations to patient treatment programmes as required, according to competency-based protocols.
  • To support data collection, audit and Health and Safety checks, including stock take, and equipment checks, cleaning and general department function.
  • To work in a variety of settings e.g. clinics, gyms, acute and community settings.
