Pipeline ATD (VFX)
Pipeline Assistant Technical Director (ATD) – VFX
As a Pipeline Assistant Technical Director (ATD), you will perform a variety of tasks to support Pipeline Technical Directors (Pipeline TDs) and ensure the smooth operation of tools, software, and workflows for our award-winning VFX and Feature Animation projects. You will work closely with Pipeline TDs, providing immediate support to artists.
Our ATDs are technical experts with a passion for innovation. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing technical advice and support for artists
- Monitoring render farm usage, disk capacity, and file transfers between sites
- Contributing to testing and feedback for R&D software releases
- Designing and writing Python tools and scripts used on shows

You’ll need to:

- Excel in communication, translating technical issues to non-technical artists
This role offers an entry-level opportunity to grow within Double Negative’s Pipeline group, developing your skills in VFX production while being part of projects ranging from blockbuster epics to television dramas.
Career Progression
Successful candidates can progress to roles such as Pipeline TD or Pipeline Supervisor, potentially expanding into other technical departments.
Requirements
Must Have
- Experience with Linux
- Good knowledge of Autodesk Maya
- Strong Python scripting skills

Nice to Have
- Previous experience in Visual Effects, Games, or related industries
- Familiarity with DCC packages (e.g., Houdini, Katana, Nuke, or Clarisse)
- A degree in Computer Science, Computer Graphics, or a related field
