Job Description
About the Role
ALTEN UK is seeking Piping Design Engineers to join a high-impact programme in the Nuclear energy sector, based in Bridgwater. You’ll play a key role in designing and optimising complex piping systems within power generation and industrial energy infrastructure. Location: Warrington (Energy sector focus), Primary Site: Bridgwater (Nuclear sector point of work).
Responsibilities
As a Piping Design Engineer, your core responsibilities will include:
- Developing and optimising piping layouts to ensure safe and efficient fluid and gas transport within energy facilities (e.g. power plants, refineries).
- Ensuring piping systems comply with relevant industry codes and safety standards.
- Conducting technical risk assessments, identifying hazards, and proposing effective design solutions.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure integrated, compliant, and constructible designs.
- Preparing detailed design documentation (specifications, calculations, and reports) to support project delivery phases.
- Utilising industry-standard 3D modelling tools (e.g., PDMS, E3D) to produce accurate piping system models and layouts.

Requirements
Key Skills & Experience
| Qualification

Required: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience. | Experience

As a Piping Engineer within the energy sector (e.g., power plants, refineries, nuclear facilities) or related nuclear experience.

On-site construction environment experience.

CCNSG Safety Passport.

Proven ability to deliver projects at Engineer or Senior Engineer level.

Proficiency in:
- Navisworks (3D model integration),
- Microsoft Excel (advanced skills),
- 3D piping design tools (e.g., PDMS, E3D). | Technical & Practical Knowledge

Strong understanding of piping codes, regulations, and industrial design standards.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and flow diagrams.

Analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.

- Self-motivated and goal-oriented to meet project/high-pressure deadlines.
