What will you be doing?
ALTEN UK is looking for Piping Design Engineers to join a high-impact programme in the Nuclear Energy sector, based in Bridgwater. You’ll play a key role in the design and optimisation of complex piping systems within power generation and industrial energy infrastructure. As a Piping Design Engineer, you will join the Warrington team to support our activities within the Energy sector. Your main responsibilities will be:
- Develop and optimise piping layouts to ensure safe and efficient fluid and gas transport within energy facilities such as power plants or refineries.
- Ensure piping systems comply with all relevant industry codes and safety standards.
- Conduct technical risk assessments, identifying potential hazards and implementing effective design solutions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure integrated, compliant, and constructible designs.
- Prepare detailed design documentation, including specifications, calculations, and reports to support project delivery phases.
- Use industry-standard 3D modelling tools such as PDMS or E3D to produce accurate piping system models and layouts.

Who are we looking for?
Essential Requirements & Qualifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to analyse and optimise piping layouts for efficiency and safety.
- Highly organised and methodical approach.
Technical Experience & Skills
Required Skills:
- Experience as a Piping Engineer within the energy sector or nuclear experience (e.g., power plants, refineries, or similar facilities).
- On-site experience in a construction environment.
- CCNSG Safety Passport.
- Delivering and operating at Engineer or Senior Engineer level.
- Experience with Navisworks models and proficient use of Excel.
- Familiarity with PDMS or E3D for 3D piping design.
- Strong understanding of piping codes, safety regulations, and industrial design standards.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and flow diagrams.

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
