Job Description
Wood is recruiting for a Piping / Mechanical Student placement. Our 8-week Summer Internship will place you in one of our ongoing projects delivering Piping and Mechanical Engineering scopes.
Responsibilities
You will be involved in a variety of engineering activities, including:
Supporting the development of piping and mechanical specifications Assisting with piping layouts, general arrangements, and design documentation Contributing to equipment datasheets and mechanical design inputs Supporting the preparation of scopes of work for fabrication, installation, or modifications Reviewing and understanding piping isometrics and mechanical construction drawings
You will help implement projects in accordance with company procedures and international engineering standards.
You will also work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, using your piping and mechanical engineering knowledge to contribute to the successful delivery of energy projects for our clients.
Throughout the placement, you will be supported by experienced engineers, subject matter experts, piping and mechanical specialists, and the Head of Discipline. You will also have access to the early careers network and graduate engineers across the business.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Currently a penultimate-year MEng student or a final-year BEng student planning to complete a MEng or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Engineering, or a related discipline Expected to achieve a 1st or 2:1 degree in a relevant engineering discipline Available full-time for the 8-week placement Intending to pursue a graduate career in engineering
Knowledge of
Awareness of the Energy sector (Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, etc.) Basic understanding of mechanical and piping design principles
Experience of
Academic or practical project work Operations or hands-on engineering experience (desirable) Continuous learning and development
Ability to
Apply a structured and systematic approach to problem solving Work independently and complete assigned tasks efficiently Use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook effectively Interpret basic piping and mechanical drawings and documentation
