Piping Supervisor

About the Role
Altrad is seeking an experienced Piping Supervisor to support the delivery of complex construction and decommissioning projects at Sellafield. The successful candidate will lead teams of Pipefitters and Chargehands, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards within a highly regulated nuclear environment. The role requires strong leadership, planning, and technical expertise, with a commitment to delivering projects in line with safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise Pipefitters, Chargehands, and subcontractors on site.
- Plan, organise, and coordinate daily work activities.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely in accordance with company procedures, permits to work, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and behavioural safety initiatives.
- Monitor productivity and progress against programme.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, specifications, and engineering drawings.
- Liaise with Construction Managers, Engineers, Planners, and client representatives.
- Allocate labour, plant, equipment, and materials effectively.
- Monitor workmanship and resolve technical issues.
- Complete daily reports, timesheets, and construction records.
- Support inspections, testing, and handover activities.
- Mentor and develop team members while managing first-line performance and disciplinary matters.
- Drive continuous improvement and identify opportunities to improve safety and efficiency.

Essential Requirements
- Recognised Mechanical or Pipefitting Apprenticeship.
- NVQ Level 3 in Pipefitting or equivalent.
- Valid CCNSG Safety Passport.
- IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent).
- Previous experience supervising piping activities on large industrial, nuclear, petrochemical, or power generation projects.
- Strong understanding of Permit to Work systems.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, isometrics, and specifications.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Good knowledge of quality assurance and construction documentation.

Desirable
- ECITB Supervisory Management Development Training (SMTD).
- NVQ Level 3 or above in Supervisory Management.
- Experience working on Sellafield or other nuclear licensed sites.
- P4 Pass or ability to obtain site clearance.
- Knowledge of NEC contracts and construction planning systems.
