Malvern Hills and Wychavon District Councils,

Place Projects Officer

Permanent, 37 hours per week

£35,412 - £39,152 (Pay Award Pending)

Wychavon’s Economic Development team delivers a wide range of business support and economic development services, including town centre and rural regeneration, commercial property investment, tourism, event, and skills support. The team plays a crucial role in responding to economic challenges such as Covid, flooding, and large-scale redundancies, as well as taking advantage of new business opportunities.

We work extensively with local businesses and communities, as well as key stakeholders such as the Local Enterprise Partnership, County Council, Worcestershire Growth Hub, Job Centre Plus, colleges, and local chambers of trade.

The team currently supports the delivery of a range of major business park developments (Worcester 6, Vale Park), The Pillar (a serviced office scheme), town centre and tourism investment programmes, and a range of business and skills/training grants.

Wychavon District Council commissioned the production of three Town Centre Investment Prospectuses – one each for Droitwich Spa, Evesham, and Pershore. The prospectuses propose a 20-year vision for each town centre and feature a mix of physical redevelopment and perception projects.

To support the delivery of the objectives within the prospectus documents, we have since helped create Place Boards to deliver our vision for each town centre. Roles have been created within the Economic Development team to enable it to be better placed to respond to the new challenges and economic landscape facing our district. In supporting and driving economic growth in our three economic centres and our tourism and visitor economy across the district, the aim is to build on our successful record and to do so in a coordinated and strategic manner.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
