Job Purpose

As an Assessor within the Childcare team at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor, Pwllheli, you will play an important role in the team delivering the Level 3 Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development: Practice and Theory qualification. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive, ambitious and high-performing team that is committed to providing high-quality education and preparing learners for successful careers in the childcare sector. You will support learners to develop the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours required to succeed in the industry.

The Childcare Assessor is responsible for the delivery of training, assessment and internal verification of learners’ work. The role supports full-time Further Education learners undertaking work placements across the local area, ensuring that the practical elements of their qualification are assessed in the workplace and that learners are able to demonstrate competence in line with qualification requirements.

Working collaboratively alongside teaching staff, employers and wider Grŵp Llandrillo Menai colleagues, the Assessor monitors learner progress, conducts workplace observations, and provides guidance and support to enable learners to successfully complete their training and achieve their qualification.

You will be joining a successful and ambitious team with a strong track record of learner achievement, including excellent recent examination outcomes, high attendance across the programme, and outstanding success rates. The role also contributes to programme quality improvement, supports learner recruitment activities across the campus and local community, and promotes the mission, values and aims of Grŵp Llandrillo Menai.

If the successful candidate does not already hold the TAQA qualification, full training and support will be provided to help them achieve it upon appointment.

Holiday Entitlement

  • 28 days leave per annum, rising to 32 days after 5 full holiday years’ continuous service (01 September to 31 August).
  • All normally observed public holidays, determined annually.
  • Up to 5 days efficiency closure days per annum, determined annually.
  • Part Time contracts will receive a pro rata entitlement to the above.
  • Term Time contracts will receive a pro rata entitlement to the above paid as part of annual salary.

18.5 hours per week, 36 weeks per year during the college term
