An established and growing planning consultancy is seeking a Planner to join its successful team in Cheltenham. This is an exciting opportunity for a planning professional with around 2–3 years' experience to work on a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, mixed-use, and strategic development projects across the UK.
You'll join a collaborative team of experienced planning professionals, taking on increasing responsibility while continuing your professional development in a supportive environment.
The Role
As a Planner, you'll play an active role in delivering planning projects from inception through to determination, managing your own workload while supporting senior colleagues on larger and more complex schemes.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Preparing and managing planning applications across a variety of development sectors.
- Producing high-quality planning statements, appraisal reports, and supporting documentation.
- Undertaking planning policy, site, and planning history research.
- Liaising with local planning authorities, consultees, clients, and external consultants.
- Supporting planning appeals, site promotion, and strategic planning projects.
- Attending client meetings, site visits, and public consultations where required.
- Monitoring changes in planning legislation and policy.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.

About You
We're looking for an ambitious Planner who is looking to build on their existing experience within a consultancy or local authority environment.
You'll ideally have:
- A Master's degree in Town Planning or a related RTPI-accredited discipline.
- Approximately 2–3 years' professional planning experience.
- Be working towards RTPI membership, or already progressing via the Associate or Licentiate route towards MRTPI.
- Experience preparing and submitting planning applications.
- A sound understanding of the UK planning system and planning policy.
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and well-structured reports.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- A proactive and commercially aware approach.
- A full UK driving licence would be advantageous.
