Planner/Works Programmer
Planner – Spennymoor
Location: Spennymoor Employer: Mears Group Salary: £31,717.37 per annum (full-time, 42.5 hours per week; Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM) Contract: Full-time / Permanent Base: Office-based

We are seeking an organised and proactive Planner to strengthen our local repairs team. In this vital role, you will:
- Ensure repairs are scheduled efficiently and works are allocated to operatives as needed.
- Serve as the key point of contact between residents, operatives, and colleagues, driving a customer-focused and responsive repairs service.
The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a proactive, “can-do” attitude, and the ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule operatives and subcontractors to maximise resources, ensuring repairs are completed on time.
- Monitor and update repair jobs daily, including follow-up works, scheduled appointments, and overdue tasks.
- Support IT systems by ensuring operatives update their PDAs and maintain accurate schedules of rates.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with residents, operatives, and stakeholders to maintain transparency.
- Work closely with administrators, supervisors, and contractors to deliver a seamless service.
- Follow company policies, health & safety requirements, and cover for other planners when needed.
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
- Prioritise emergency and urgent jobs to minimise disruption for residents.
- Maintain accurate records, data, and documentation for compliance and auditing.
- Conduct reports and performance monitoring to ensure KPIs and targets are met.
- Suggest continuous improvements to optimise planning and scheduling.
- Provide general administrative support to the repairs team when necessary.

Essential Criteria
- A customer-first mindset, with the ability to handle challenging situations gracefully.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Desirable
- Proven experience in a customer service-related role.
- Previous experience in a call centre environment.
