Planning Application Manager
Shrewsbury
Permanent
£30,000 - £35,000 Depending on experience
Monday-Friday
We are a well-established and growing planning consultancy based in Shrewsbury, working across Shropshire, the West Midlands and beyond. We provide professional planning advice to developers, landowners, housing associations and private clients, supporting a wide range of residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.
Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit a Planning Application Manager to join our team and support the delivery of planning applications from initial enquiry through to submission and determination.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within a supportive consultancy environment, working closely with an experienced Planning Director while gaining responsibility for managing multiple projects and acting as a key contact for clients, planning authorities and technical consultants.
The Role
Support and manage planning applications across a variety of development projects, working closely with clients, consultants and local authorities to ensure applications are prepared and submitted efficiently.
- Be involved throughout the full planning process from early client discussions and site reviews through to preparing documentation, coordinating technical reports and submitting applications.
- Play an important role in ensuring projects progress smoothly within planning timeframes, typically managing applications through the process within approximately 12 weeks.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
