If you’re proactive, detail‑focused and ready to support both planning and operational teams, this could be the role for you.
Here at GXO Logistics, we’re looking for a Planning Assistant to join our retail distribution operation in Wellingborough. This is a high‑volume site, where planning is critical to delivering service, managing resource and keeping productivity on track across a complex, fast‑moving environment. Working closely with the Operations Manager and wider site teams, you’ll take ownership of day‑to‑day planning activity, supporting headcount, forecasting and reporting to ensure the operation is always one step ahead.
This is a full‑time, permanent position, working on any ‘5 out of 7’ days, predominantly Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:00.

We’re looking to offer a salary of £26,436, and 33 days annual leave (inclusive bank holidays). You’ll also receive 33 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Support the planning function by managing daily, weekly and longer‑term resource requirements
- Produce and share accurate reports on productivity, headcount and performance with senior stakeholders
- Monitor and forecast labour requirements, supporting shift managers to align resource with demand
- Analyse data and trends to identify risks, opportunities and improvements across the operation
- Attend planning and operational meetings, providing insight and helping drive correct decision‑making
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Experience in a planning, admin or analytical role within a warehouse or logistics environment
- Strong Excel and reporting skills, with confidence working with data and systems
- Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Confident communicator who can work with operational teams and senior stakeholders
- Proactive, organised and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced setting
- Comfortable working independently but also as part of a wider team
