Planning Director – Integrated Creative Agency

London – Hybrid (3 days per week) 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract (FTC) / Up to £80k (DOE)

Are you a strategic leader with a flair for turning insights into big ideas? This guaranteed freelance to permanent opportunity at an independent purpose-driven marketing agency is seeking a Planning Director with big brand commercial experience to shape strategy, inspire creativity, and deliver standout campaigns that drive real-world impact.

An independent 25+ year-old marketing agency (50+ employees) delivering meaningful, award-winning campaigns for non-profit organisations, charities, and consumer brands.

About The Role

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead strategy across a portfolio of commercial brands, delivering audience-first insights and standout creative briefs.
  • Collaborate with client & creative teams to turn challenges into award-winning campaigns.
  • Play a key role in pitches & new business, crafting compelling narratives that secure accounts.
  • Build long-term client relationships, identifying growth opportunities.
  • Champion marketing effectiveness, using data analysis to prove impact and foster innovation.
  • Mentor planners, shape agency culture, and develop future leaders.

Ideal candidates must have: ✔ 8+ years’ strategic planning experience in top-tier integrated creative agencies, with a track record of award-winning big brand campaigns. ✔ Strong strategy across brand, campaign, and product launch initiatives, ideally with direct response & DRTV exposure. ✔ Gravitas to communicate confidently at executive client level. ✔ Data-driven insight skills – ability to translate intelligence into creative strategy.

Bonus traits (the agency supports & reflects its causes): ✔ Passionate about NFP/charity work or socially conscious campaigns.
