Trusted Planning Engineer
Job Title: Planning Engineer Location: Glasgow Salary: £59,200 (with annual review), up to 15% bonus, health cover, and flexible working pattern

About the Role
Working closely with:
- Global Technical Services (Digital Planning)
- ScottishPower Renewables Onshore Operations & Maintenance (O&M)
- Remote Control Centre (RCC)
- Field Operations teams
This role ensures that asset maintenance and inspections (as defined in Asset Management Plans) are executed to deliver business objectives while maintaining acceptable safety, technical quality, and operational performance.
The Planning Engineer reports to the Senior Project Manager in the Technical Operations & Projects team and will:
- Lead the development, establishment, and coordination of a unified work-planning approach across the Onshore O&M group.
- Align plans with ISO55001 Asset Management requirements, influencing stakeholders across the O&M organisation for sustained adoption.
Key Responsibilities
Core Work Outcomes
- Develop, create, and manage high-quality activity-focused workplans across diverse O&M activity groups (spanning varying generating technologies, Original Equipment Manufacturer environments).
- Optimise scheduling for workstreams—ensuring cost-effective coordination of inspections and maintenance.
- Implement and enhance work management/planning tools, improving:
- Progress tracking
- Audit compliance
- Consistent, measurable operational delivery
Collaborative Accountabilities
- Influence Technical Operations, Projects, RCC, and Field Operations teams to integrate planned maintenance/inspection activities with asset management and operational systems.
- Lead the distribution of data-driven KPIs, providing transparencies on:
- Maintenance efficiency
- Performance metrics
- Correction of backlog activities via targeted reporting.

Process Innovation & IT Alignment
- Collaborate with IT functions to evolve and integrate advanced software planning tools (streamlining work processes).
- Work with RCC stakeholders to ensure dynamic alignment between:
- Planned outages
- Maintenance activities
Risk Mitigation
- Coordinate with business units across ScottishPower Renewables (SPR) to transition industry constraints into actionable work shocks/mitigation strategies.
Sustainability & Audit
- Embed audit findings / improvement opportunities into future workplans—for scalable, repeatable enhancements.
What You’ll Bring
- Technical Qualification: A relevant engineering degree (or alternative with equivalent technical experience).
- Experience: Preference for leading work planning in industrial settings (renewable energy context desirable but not mandatory).
- IMS Proficiency: Experience using Integral Management Systems (IMS) to execute policy/procedure-based work.
- Compliance: Working knowledge of HSE (health, safety, and environmental) legislation.
- Tools & Functions: Skilled in using common planning and work management software; comfortable leveraging automation where applicable.
- Soft Skills: Strong organiser (stakeholder collaboration, influencing, risk mitigation, and process improvement).
- Mobility: Valid UK driving licence and your own transport.
