Job Overview

Planning Specialists at Plan Assist are trusted advisors who help organisations improve how they plan, forecast, and make decisions.

The role combines business planning expertise, delivery leadership, and sound judgement. You will work closely with senior client stakeholders, helping them shape planning approaches that balance accuracy, usability, adoption, and long-term ownership.

Planning Specialists are expected to think critically, challenge assumptions constructively, and take responsibility for outcomes. This is a role for someone who enjoys complexity, cares about quality, and wants to be known for doing the right thing, for the client and for the firm.

You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, supported by a small, experienced team, and will be trusted to represent Plan Assist professionally in client-facing situations.

Why Join Plan Assist

  • You’ll work in a small, elite team with high trust and high standards
  • You’ll be expected to think, lead, and take responsibility
  • You’ll develop depth of craft that compounds over your career
  • You’ll be part of a firm that wants to be known for excellence, not noise

How Success Is Measured

Success in this role is defined by:

  • Client adoption and long-term ownership of what you help deliver
  • Quality and robustness of planning solutions
  • Strength and durability of client relationships
  • Judgement shown under ambiguity or pressure
  • Contribution to the team’s overall standard and reputation

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for planning specialists who share our values and bring real, applied experience.

You are likely someone who:

  • Has an accounting background, either qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience
  • Has hands-on FP&A experience, ideally within complex or fast-moving organisations
  • Has worked with modern planning platforms (e.g. Workday Adaptive Planning, Pigment, or similar) and is comfortable designing and working with real-world planning models
  • Is confident advising clients and challenging assumptions constructively; not a wallflower, but not abrasive
  • Builds trust and strong relationships through clarity, empathy, and professionalism
  • Thinks beyond tasks to outcomes; asking what does this mean for the client, the project, and the long term?
  • Is commercially aware, with a clear understanding of how decisions impact delivery, client trust, and reputation
  • Communicates clearly, builds rapport naturally, and handles pressure well
  • Is proactive, accountable, and comfortable operating in a small, senior, high-trust team

Strong product (EPM) experience is important.

While we invest in development, we’re looking for people who already have solid, practical experience with planning technology, as it underpins everything else we do; from advisory conversations to delivery confidence.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About Plan Assist

Plan Assist is a UK-based specialist consulting firm focused on business planning excellence. We help organisations improve how they plan, forecast, and make decisions across financial, workforce, operational, and commercial planning.

We work with complex, fast-moving businesses where planning quality genuinely matters, including elite motorsport environments and other “failure-is-not-an-option” organisations. In these settings, planning is not an academic exercise; it directly impacts performance, outcomes, and reputation.

We are certified partners of Workday (Adaptive Planning) and Pigment, and we were awarded Pigment Partner of the Year (EMEA) 2026. This recognition reflects not just technical capability, but the consistency and quality of the outcomes we deliver for our clients.

That said, technology is not our differentiator.

Our differentiation is our people and the way we work.

We lead with planning insight first; how an organisation should plan, govern, forecast, and make decisions, and then apply technology pragmatically to support that. We optimise for adoption, ownership, and long-term success, not just go-live milestones.

How We Work

Plan Assist is intentionally a small, elite team.

Every team member is trusted, expected to be proactive, and held to a high standard. We don’t rely on hierarchy, titles, or rigid process to create quality. Instead, we expect people to apply judgement, take responsibility, and act in the best interests of the client and the firm.

This means:

  • Owning outcomes, not just tasks
  • Protecting delivery quality and reputation
  • Building long-term client relationships, not transactional wins
  • Continuously raising the bar in our individual and collective craft

This is not an environment for passengers.

It is an environment for people who want autonomy, responsibility, and to be known for excellence.

Our Company Values

  • Humanity – We are human first.
  • Reliability – Reliable in all our actions and words.
  • Authenticity – Act purely and sincerely within our customers business and our own.
  • Delivery Results – Client satisfaction is our highest aim.
  • Accountability – We always act comprehensively and verifiably.
