Planning Specialist

Experienced Planner – Maternity Cover Contract (12 Months)

About the Role

Join Stonebridge Homes, a Leeds-based housebuilder with a reputation for designing and delivering quality, high-specification homes across Yorkshire, the North-East, and Lincolnshire. We’re looking for an experienced Planner on a 12-month maternity cover contract to lead our Design & Planning Team, ensuring our long-term projects align with our brand values and business goals.

In this role, you’ll work closely with internal teams, external stakeholders, and planning authorities, guiding projects from feasibility to planning consent. We value collaboration, innovation, and a culture where every voice contributes to our vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Align planning with the business strategy by proactively engaging with teams across functions to define planning requirements for current and future sites, providing clear programmes and timescales to support the overall business plan
  • Monitor and interpret national and local planning policies, offering commercially sound recommendations and leveraging pre-application advice to guide land acquisition and planning strategy
  • Prepare, manage, and submit high-quality, time-sensitive planning applications, including:
    • Ancillary applications (discharge of conditions, variations, statutory diversions)
    • Detailed planning documentation
  • Maintain accurate planning records, tracking, and documentation
  • Manage external planning consultants to ensure timely, effective deliverables
  • Engage and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including:
    • Planning officers
    • Highways teams
    • Councillors
    • Local MPs
    • Community groups
  • Design and deliver effective, brand-aligned consultation events to promote Stonebridge Homes
  • Identify opportunities within the Local Plan process
  • Proactively identify risks and delays, develop mitigation strategies, and provide regular updates to internal stakeholders

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
