Dispatcher – Asphalt Plant Operator
Summary: The dispatcher is responsible for overseeing either a batch plant or drum manufacturing plant’s daily production to ensure the delivery of high-quality asphalt for customers.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe work environment, adhering to all safety policies, procedures, and best practices using the correct tools and equipment
- Operate the computer-controlled asphalt plant efficiently
- Interpret technical specifications to produce high-quality asphalt meeting company and customer standards
- Work within daily schedules to maximise production efforts
- Demonstrate knowledge of preventive maintenance and make basic repairs when required
- Complete work to meet established standards, specifications, and requirements
- Understand and follow basic safety protocols and work instructions
- Operate and monitor either a batch or drum asphalt plant
- Assist Quality Control (QC) to ensure mixed asphalt designs comply with customer specifications
- Distribute materials on time to both internal and external customers
- Place aggregate orders with suppliers as required
- Prepare and submit daily and weekly production reports
- Load and unload asphalt-material trucks
- Maintain favourable communication with customers and stakeholders
- Work safely, comply with OSHA guidelines, and keep the work area clean
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned

Working Conditions
- Tasks may require movement between climate-controlled rooms and exposure to:
- Airborne particles
- Varying weather conditions
- Moving mechanical parts
- Moderate noise levels (intermittent exposure to loud noises)

Physical and Mental Demands
- Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as mandated
- Stand and sit for prolonged periods
- Walk, bend, kneel, and twist when operating equipment
- Use clear communication (talking and hearing) to coordinate safely
- Lift and move up to 25 pounds frequently
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
Certifications
- None required
Experience
- Preferred: 1 year of asphalt plant operation experience
- Knowledge of hot mix asphalt technology recommended
Schedule
- Monday – Saturday
- Some evenings
- This position may have limited or no traditional daytime availability
