Plant Fitter
Location: Liverpool (Port Environment)
Salary: £42,000 - £46,000 + Overtime
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Plant Fitter to join a well-established and growing business operating within a busy industrial and port environment.
As a key member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and overhauling a range of heavy plant and operational equipment, ensuring machinery remains safe, reliable and available to support site operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out maintenance, servicing and repair work on a range of heavy plant and associated equipment.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical, hydraulic and diesel-related faults.
- Strip, inspect and rebuild plant machinery and components.
- Conduct planned preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns.
- Interpret technical drawings, manuals and maintenance documentation.
- Complete maintenance records using digital systems and tablets.
- Support operational efficiency by minimising downtime and maximising equipment performance.

What We Are Looking For
Essential Experience
- Proven experience working as a Plant Fitter, Heavy Plant Engineer, Maintenance Technician or similar engineering role.
- Strong mechanical and hydraulic fault-finding skills.
- Experience maintaining diesel-powered equipment.
- Ability to strip down and rebuild mechanical components.
- Confidence reading and interpreting technical drawings.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Good IT skills and experience using digital maintenance systems.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Experience
- Hydraulic fault diagnosis at component level.
- Knowledge of 3-phase electrics.
- Experience using workshop machinery such as lathes and milling machines.
- Previous experience within ports, recycling, waste management, heavy industry or similar environments.
- Relevant engineering qualifications (NVQ Level 3, ONC, HNC or equivalent).

Package & Benefits
- Salary of approximately £42,000 - £46,000 per annum
- Overtime opportunities available.

Additional Information
- Based full-time on site in Liverpool.
- Participation in an on-call rota during peak operational periods.
