Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Plant Fitter to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the optimal operation of plant equipment through routine inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical and electrical background to contribute to the smooth running of our equipment. The Plant Fitter will utilise a range of hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to perform repairs and assembly tasks efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections of plant machinery and equipment to identify potential faults or wear.
- Perform repairs on various mechanical components.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and maintenance manuals to facilitate accurate repairs.
- Carry out electrical work, including troubleshooting electrical systems and replacing faulty wiring or components.
- Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment such as excavators and forklifts for maintenance tasks.
- Assist in the assembly, disassembly, and installation of new machinery or plant modifications.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, including heavy lifting procedures and the safe operation of equipment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing plant reliability and efficiency.
- Support other departments with technical assistance or equipment repair needs as required.

Experience
- Proven experience in mechanical fitting, electrical systems, or plant maintenance within an industrial environment.
- Familiarity with equipment repair involving heavy machinery such as excavators or forklifts is desirable.
- Competence in using hand tools, power tools, and assembly equipment for maintenance tasks.
- Experience in troubleshooting electrical issues and performing preventative maintenance is essential.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work effectively in physically demanding conditions.
- Prior experience working with technical drawings or schematics will be advantageous.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and reporting.
