About The Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Plant Fitter to join our Ground Engineering team working on the Sizewell C project in Leiston, Suffolk.
Be part of this ‘once in a generation’ project that will deliver clean energy to 6 million homes for the next 60 years. Sizewell C will see the creation of a 3.2 Gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast to provide reliable load low-carbon electricity.
The Civil Works Alliance is an extended delivery enterprise involving Sizewell C and three international construction companies: Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O’Rourke.
We are more than just an alliance; we are bringing together a single delivery organisation with years of learning and experience from other major complex infrastructure programmes worldwide.
What you'll be doing
The Successful Candidate Will
- Provide depot and mobile support to busy Plant Operations at Leiston;
- Inspect plant machinery to identify faults and assess required repairs;
- Arrange spare parts and coordinate manpower resources needed to complete repairs;
- Diagnose faults, service, strip, repair and test engines, transmissions and fuel injection systems under supervision;
- Carry out electrical fault finding across 12v and 24v systems;
- Read and work from electrical drawings to support accurate diagnosis and repair;
- Maintain and test charging systems and batteries;
- Install accessories using the correct procedures, tools and equipment;
- Read and work from hydraulic drawings to diagnose faults correctly;
- Test hydraulic systems using flow meters, pressure gauges and hydraulic test rigs;
- Fit, set up and test hydraulic components, including making hydraulic hose assemblies;
- Carry out minor welding, bench fitting, drilling, tapping and basic machining tasks to support plant repairs.

Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will have the following personal qualities and experience:
- Self-motivated, focused and able to work effectively with minimal supervision;
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage clearly and professionally;
- Understands the importance of the role and its operational requirements;
- Able to achieve results while working to strict deadlines;
- Works well both independently and as part of a team environment;
- Willing to go the extra mile when required to deliver successful outcomes;
- Good business knowledge and a clear understanding of system requirements;
- Experience in construction engineering, plant maintenance and piling rigs;
- Holds CSCS NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance, or equivalent relevant qualification;
- Additional relevant qualifications such as IPAF, Harness training and CSC Card are desirable.
