Plant Fitter
Plant Fitter – Permanent Role (Full-time, Orsett, Essex, PAYE)
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Plant Fitter to join our maintenance department at NRC Crane Hire.
As a critical member of the team, you will ensure our ** fleet of plant** operates at its best while maintaining safety and efficiency standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular maintenance, inspections, and repairs on various types of plant
- Diagnose faults and implement corrective actions
- Carry out routine checks and scheduled maintenance to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment longevity
- Collaborate with the operations team to coordinate maintenance schedules and minimise downtime
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies
- Keep accurate records of work performed and parts used
- Provide technical support and advice to team members and clients as needed
- Engage in continuous training to stay updated on industry standards and technological advancements

Requirements
Essential:
- Relevant qualifications – NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance, or equivalent (e.g., HGV Maintenance / Agricultural Maintenance)
- Proven experience as a Plant Fitter, Plant Mechanic, or similar role
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems (preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of health & safety standards
- Excellent problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A valid UK driving licence
Desirable:
- CPCS Card Holder or equivalent qualification
- Experience with specific brands/models of cranes in our fleet
- Welding and fabrication skills
- Direct Plant Fitter experience in the hire industry or construction Plant Departments preferred
