Plant Fitter

Plant Fitter – Permanent Role (Full-time, Orsett, Essex, PAYE)

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Plant Fitter to join our maintenance department at NRC Crane Hire.

As a critical member of the team, you will ensure our ** fleet of plant** operates at its best while maintaining safety and efficiency standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular maintenance, inspections, and repairs on various types of plant
  • Diagnose faults and implement corrective actions
  • Carry out routine checks and scheduled maintenance to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment longevity
  • Collaborate with the operations team to coordinate maintenance schedules and minimise downtime
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies
  • Keep accurate records of work performed and parts used
  • Provide technical support and advice to team members and clients as needed
  • Engage in continuous training to stay updated on industry standards and technological advancements

Requirements

Essential:

  • Relevant qualifications – NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance, or equivalent (e.g., HGV Maintenance / Agricultural Maintenance)
  • Proven experience as a Plant Fitter, Plant Mechanic, or similar role
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems (preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of health & safety standards
  • Excellent problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A valid UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • CPCS Card Holder or equivalent qualification
  • Experience with specific brands/models of cranes in our fleet
  • Welding and fabrication skills
  • Direct Plant Fitter experience in the hire industry or construction Plant Departments preferred
