About the Role
Are you an experienced Plant Fitter with a passion for heavy machinery? We’re looking for skilled Plant Engineers to join our dynamic Plant Operations Division.
In this hands-on, workshop-based role, you’ll be instrumental in maintaining and servicing our extensive Plant Hire fleet, ensuring reliability and performance across a wide range of projects.
How This Role Supports the Delivery of Hire Solutions
As a Plant Fitter, your expertise is central to keeping our fleet hire-ready and performing optimally. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring our customers receive dependable, high-quality equipment that meets their needs, on time and to specification.
By proactively identifying and resolving issues, you’ll:
- Minimise downtime
- Enhance operational efficiency
- Contribute directly to the success of our hire operations
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair faults on heavy plant equipment, including excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers, and generators
- Conduct routine servicing, inspections, and maintenance, ensuring machinery operates safely and efficiently
- Proactively identify potential issues using mechanical knowledge to prevent breakdowns
- Perform hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic fault-finding and repairs
- Maintain accurate service reports and parts records, ensuring up-to-date documentation
- Work both independently and as part of a team, responding swiftly to breakdowns and customer requests
- Strict adherence to Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices
- Liaise with depot management and customers, providing clear updates on equipment status and repair schedules
- Maintain high workshop and machinery standards, ensuring tools remain in good condition
- Represent Jaruie Plant professionally, contributing to customer satisfaction and service excellence

What Makes You a Good Fit?
We seek applicants with:
- Relevant qualifications in mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical engineering (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, HND)
- Strong industry experience with heavy plant systems
- Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Clear communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- A customer-focused mindset with a commitment to service excellence
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- A proactive, safety-conscious approach
Note: Plant Fitters must supply their own basic hand tools. Jarvie Plant will provide specialist tools, PPE, and branded workwear.
