Plant Integration Engineer (Test Abstracts and Specifications)
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Plant Integration Engineer (Test Abstracts and Specifications) based in United Kingdom.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the successful delivery of a next-generation advanced reactor project by strengthening the connection between engineering design teams and commissioning operations.
The position focuses on developing, coordinating, and improving test documentation frameworks that support plant startup and long-term system reliability.
You will collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines to ensure testing strategies, specifications, and procedures accurately reflect system requirements.
The role plays a key part in enhancing documentation quality, knowledge sharing, and operational readiness.
You will work closely with technical teams, provide guidance on best practices, and help ensure successful verification of complex plant systems.
This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys cross-functional collaboration, technical problem-solving, and contributing to innovative energy solutions.
Accountabilities
The Plant Integration Engineer will be responsible for coordinating the development and integration of test documentation across engineering, commissioning, and operations teams. The role requires strong collaboration skills to ensure that testing requirements are clearly defined, documented, and aligned with project objectives.
- Act as the primary liaison between reactor/plant design engineering groups and the Commissioning/Operations team to ensure effective communication and alignment.
- Coordinate the creation of test abstracts and test specifications with design teams to support the development of commissioning and startup procedures.
- Develop documentation frameworks and provide training to engineering personnel on best practices for authoring test abstracts and specifications.
- Collaborate with system design groups to collect, organize, and validate required testing information.
- Support procedure management activities, including planning, tracking, and maintaining alignment with project schedules.
- Lead cross-disciplinary reviews and approvals of test specifications to ensure all required data is captured to demonstrate system functionality and quality.
- Ensure test documentation is completed accurately and on schedule by working with engineering teams to resolve challenges and gather required inputs.
- Partner with Operations teams to develop and implement testing strategies covering functional, regression, performance, and acceptance testing.
- Participate in design reviews by providing feedback on system testability, quality considerations, and verification approaches.

Requirements
The ideal candidate brings extensive engineering experience with strong knowledge of testing methodologies, systems engineering principles, and technical documentation practices. This role requires someone capable of translating complex engineering designs into effective testing strategies while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of engineering experience, including at least 2 years focused on hardware testing or reactor/plant testing environments.
- Proven ability to write clear, concise, and comprehensive test documentation, including test abstracts, specifications, and procedures.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience working with design engineering and systems engineering teams.
- Understanding of startup test programs and the documentation required to support startup plans and procedures.
- Ability to review engineering design documents and translate requirements into structured test specifications.
- Experience with project coordination or project management activities is preferred.
- Knowledge of commercial nuclear and/or naval nuclear power environments is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with startup testing approaches, tools, and processes.
- Knowledge of equipment qualification processes, requirements, and programs.
- Understanding of systems engineering practices, including requirements verification and validation.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and technical training skills.
