Plant Operator
Stericycle – Clinical Waste Plant Operator – Opportunity Available

Position Purpose
To assist in the day-to-day operation of a clinical waste disposal facility, ensuring:
- Safe and efficient receipt, treatment, and disposal of clinical waste
- Maximum plant availability and productivity
- Strict compliance with company operational procedures and legislative requirements
Your role is a cornerstone of Stericycle’s mission to safeguard public health and environmental integrity by expertly managing critical waste streams.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Core
- Vehicle/trailer unloading (as specified in site procedures)
- Efficient manoeuvring of waste on the plant and containers weighing, adhering to workflow optimisation targets
- Facilitating waste flow:
- Emptying, cleaning, and reshuffling waste containers into designated ‘storage-ready’ zones
- Ensuring rapid turnaround between collections for uninterrupted operations
- Carrier/logistics supervision for deliveries (including suppliers/contractors):
- Coordinating documentation and consignment handoffs
- Overseeing safe operative loading of loose waste into designated containers, if required
- Forklift operation as assigned for efficiency improvements
Support & Enabling
- Scheduled plant shutdowns: Prepare/participate as part of standard turnovers, maintenance cycles, and preventative checks
- Record-keeping: Maintain company operational records/data specific to this role
- Proactive safety culture:
- Highlighting equipment, building or procedural defects to management before issues escalate
- Shutter supervision: Apply cross-functional support to Shift Supervisors/Plant Managers during unplanned stoppages or faults
- Safety compliance:
- Strict adherence to all safety notices/signs
- Holding self and teammates to auditable safety and technical standards at all times
- Obligation to engage with any scheduled/specific job-related training/instruction programs

Requisites
Education
- No formal education minima specified—hands-on aptitude is primary consideration.
Experience
North America & Latin America:
- Demonstrated ability as part of a waste management operations team (akin to tipping hall or MRF releases), preferably in a healthcare or regulated industrial waste context
EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa & Asia):
- Equivalent career experience in clinical or pharmaceutical waste handling with comparable processes
