We are recruiting for an experienced Plant Operations Supervisor to join a growing organisation operating within the food waste, waste processing, environmental services and renewable energy sector.
This is a hands-on site leadership role within a busy food waste and oil processing facility, closely linked to anaerobic digestion operations. This is not a typical manufacturing plant role. It would suit someone with experience in food waste, recycling, waste transfer, anaerobic digestion, biogas, process operations, utilities, heavy plant or regulated site environments.
As Operations Supervisor, you will support the safe, efficient and compliant day-to-day running of the site. You will lead operational teams, manage resources, maintain high safety standards, support production efficiency and help maximise processing outputs.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
- Managing day-to-day operations across food waste and oil processing activities
- Leading, coordinating and supporting operational teams
- Ensuring staffing, resources and site coverage are in place
- Supporting production efficiency and maximising processing outputs
- Helping maximise gas potential across associated anaerobic digestion operations
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety, hygiene and housekeeping
- Ensuring safety procedures are followed by employees, visitors and contractors
- Supporting compliance with HSE, Environmental Permit, PAS 110, ABPR and ISCC procedures
- Supporting regulatory visits where required
- Acting as nominated COTC where required, or ensuring suitable COTC cover is in place
- Managing operational costs and supporting site budget targets
- Carrying out 1:1s, team meetings and performance management
- Supporting accident, incident and near-miss investigations
- Promoting a positive safety culture across the site

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
