Your responsibilities
We are currently looking for a Production Operative to join us here at thyssenkrupp Materials UK! In this role you will operate our Plate Saws (Once trained) to ensure all products are handled, cut and identified in accordance with thyssenkrupp Working Practices and Procedures ensuring adherence to customer requirements in a safe manner whilst also conforming to all relevant Health and Safety regulations. Don't worry, we will provide full training!
Our Preston site specialises in Aerospace specific products and CNC machining. As an aerospace site, all our products need to be accurate and traceable back to us to ensure safety and accountability, so your organisational and attention to detail skills are imperative. We invest in careers and development and there are lots of different areas in the warehouse for you to develop in.
Shift Pattern
Monday-Friday alternating shifts
Week 1 - 6am - 2pm Week 2 - 2pm - 10pm
Key Responsibilities
Your main duties will include:
Cutting material in accordance with customer requirements. Accurately setting the machine and cutting of materials maximising stock utilisation and minimising any scrap or damage to both customer products and stock. The maintenance and accurate recording of all details on both the computer based stock control system and all other supporting documentation. Ensuring that all products are handled in the most appropriate manner to eliminate any damage, or health hazards, in accordance with Health and Safety regulations. Ensure all stock and products are marked and traceable. Ensuring full conformance to all the identified order requirements as presented.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Do not worry if you don't have all these skills, we are happy to train you and so please still apply if you meet some of the requirements. We are looking for enthusiastic people from all backgrounds who thrive working in a practical role! You are likely someone who likes to build or fix things! We can teach the rest!
Experience within a Warehouse environment and/or operating machinery Ability to read and understand a cutting pattern to maximise stock utilisation and minimise waste Programming knowledge for machine set-up, preparation and cutting Self-motivated, reliant, diligent, analytical and numerate. PC Literate.
Desirable knowledge /skills /experience /behaviours:
Understanding of Health and Safety at Work legislation and its practical application. Experience with SAP Current valid counterbalance FLT license Machine Maintenance skills applicable to the type of equipment operated Understanding of continuous improvement philosophies.
