Plater
Time Served Plater – INEOS KPS Kinneil (Grangemouth)
Job Overview
A time served plater is required to provide critical support to ongoing projects at INEOS KPS Kinneil, Grangemouth. Candidates must have prior experience working in a live plant environment.
Valid CCNSG (Construction Industry Safety Passport) is a mandatory requirement.
As part of the NAECI Rates, this key role involves delivering high-quality plating construction services, including structural steelwork preparation, fabrication, and erection, adhering strictly to project and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
The Plater will be expected to:
- Deliver high-quality, consistent, and competent plating construction services in line with project and company requirements, standards, and procedures.
- Ensure full scope completion safely and efficiently, with no negative impact on personnel, equipment, or the environment.
- Read, understand, and implement all applicable company/project policies, work practices, and procedures, maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.
- Prepare and fabricate structural steelwork, plate work, and pipework, including:
- Marking out and developing profiles on plate and structural steel sections.
- Producing templates for marking and drilling.
- Angle fabrications (bending/folding) and rolled steel section processing.
- Setting out plate work for structural steel fabrication.
- Assembling square, rectangular, cylindrical, or conical plate work structures.
- Installing structural steelwork, heavy beams, sections, and lattice girders.
- Perform manual metal arc welding for fabrications and structural steelwork.
- Use straight-line and profile-cutting machines safely.
- Operate overhead cranes by slinging loads as part of routine fabrication lifting activities.
- Conduct stand-by and fire watch duties.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, checking tools and equipment routinely.
- Operate Oxy/fuel cutting, burning, and heating equipment.
- Ensure tack welding, preheating (when required), and full joint welding adherence, requesting assistance for complex fits when needed.
- Be responsible for the safe handling and transport of welding/cutting leads, electrodes, and tools, keeping them in good working order.
- Maintain a clean and clutter-free work area, especially between job site transitions.
- Provide cross-trade support or participate in integrated multi-discipline teams as required.
- Undertake appropriate risk assessments (RA) to ensure safe and controlled work completion.
- Regularly attend meetings (toolbox talks, training sessions, and safety briefings).
- Communicate timely updates on work progress to supervisors.
- Maintain personal professional development and skill competency, ensuring training activities are undertaken punctually.
- Uphold adherence to quality assurance, health & safety, and environmental policies (including PD&MS QHSE principles).
- Lead by example in demonstrating and promoting QHSE awareness.

Requirements
Qualifications & Certifications
- Time Served / Modern Apprenticeship (approved by City & Guilds or NVQ/SVQ Level 3) or relevant and recognised technical qualification (approved awarding body).
- Abrasive Wheels Awareness Training.
- A relevant Welders Coding Certificate (applicable to Weld Procedure).
- Valid CCNSG Safety Passport.
- Valid UK/UK Driving License.
- Overhead Pendant Crane Certification (preferably).

Experience & Competency
- A minimum of previous experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of Oil & Gas Industry Codes and Standards.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
