- Hourly Rate: £24.88 per hour PAYE
- Overtime Rate: £37.32 per hour (after 40 hours per week)
- Night Rate: £33.09 per hour
- Travel & Lodge Allowance: £400 per week

About the Role
We are seeking experienced Platers/Fabricators for long-term engineering work in the South West. This opportunity suits candidates with expertise in marine, defence, dockyard, shipbuilding, ship repair, structural fabrication, or heavy engineering.
The South West features a strong long-term marine and defence engineering market, including significant dockyard and infrastructure activity at Devonport Dockyard (Plymouth).

This role is ideal for experienced tradespeople who thrive in large-scale engineering programmes, where accuracy, safety, and quality are critical.
Key Duties
- Marking out, cutting and preparing steel plates and structural components
- Fabricating and assembling components from engineering drawings
- Fitting plates, stiffeners, brackets, frames, and structural sections
- Conducting dimensional checks before welding
- Using thermal cutting, grinding, and fabrication equipment safely
- Performing tack welding and preparing completed assemblies for welders
- Identifying and resolving alignment or fit-up issues
- Collaborating with welders, fabricators, and production teams
- Maintaining high safety and housekeeping standards

Experience Required
- Proven plating or fabrication experience
- Marine, defence, dockyard, shipbuilding, or heavy engineering background
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings confidently
- Expertise in accurate marking out and fabrication from technical plans
- Experience working with heavy plate and structural steel
- Proficiency in using cutting, grinding, and fabrication equipment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
