Platform Architect
Platform Architect (Kubernetes / OpenShift)
Location: Hybrid - Wokingham
Salary: Up to £115,000 basic + bonus + excellent benefits
Due to the nature of the work, successful applicants must be eligible to obtain Security Check (SC) Clearance.
Are you an experienced Platform Architect with strong Kubernetes or OpenShift expertise looking to shape the future of large-scale enterprise platforms?
We're looking for a Platform Architect to join a high-performing team supporting complex managed services environments for a major enterprise organisation. This is an opportunity to influence platform strategy, drive resilience, and lead the evolution of modern cloud-native infrastructure across mission-critical services. You'll work alongside architects, engineering teams, cybersecurity specialists and senior stakeholders to ensure platforms remain secure, resilient and fit for future business demands.
The Role
As Platform Architect, you'll own the architecture and strategic direction of Kubernetes-based platforms, ensuring they continue to evolve in line with business objectives and operational requirements.

Key responsibilities include:
- Owning and governing platform architecture across managed service environments
- Designing and evolving Kubernetes/OpenShift platforms across cloud and on-premise infrastructure
- Developing resilience, disaster recovery and business continuity strategies
- Designing and assuring failover and recovery solutions
- Working closely with cybersecurity teams to embed resilience into platform design
- Leading resilience testing, recovery exercises and scenario planning
- Ensuring platforms meet regulatory and industry standards
- Providing architectural guidance and best practice across technical teams
- Acting as a trusted technical advisor to key stakeholders
About You
You'll bring a strong background in enterprise platform architecture together with experience designing and supporting highly available Kubernetes environments.
You'll ideally have:
- Proven experience as a Platform or Infrastructure Architect working with Kubernetes (OpenShift preferred)
- Experience designing platforms across both cloud and on-premise/data centre environments
- Strong knowledge of resilience, disaster recovery and business continuity
- Experience working within complex Managed Services environments
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking and cybersecurity
- Experience delivering within Agile environments
- Knowledge of frameworks such as ISO 22301, NIST, ITIL or similar
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Desirable certifications include TOGAF, CISSP, CBCP or equivalent.
