Platform Architect (### here to preserve content structure)
Whitehall Resources are currently looking for a Platform Architect on a remote basis with rare travel to Shropshire for an initial 6-month contract.
- Must meet SC eligibility criteria
- Outside IR35 considerations apply
Key Responsibilities
- Produce architecture designs that meet the technical and business requirements
- Collaborate with delivery teams, product owners, engineers, and testers to formulate the technical approach
- Translate requirements into clear and practical design decisions
- Develop architecture documents, diagrams, and supporting notes
- Ensure solutions align with standards, security requirements, and governance
- Support teams throughout build, testing, deployment, and change processes
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical assurance
- Communicate design decisions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Identify risks, issues, and design constraints early and assist in their resolution

Main Deliverables
- Architecture design documents and diagrams
- Technical input to planning, estimating, and risk management
- Design review contributions and assurance outputs
- Guidance to delivery teams during build and deployment
- Updated design packs aligned with governance checkpoints
Dependencies & Assumptions
- Access to project teams, architecture standards, and technical documentation
- Engagement with security, data, and platform teams as required
Key Skills
- Strong background in technology architecture
- Understanding of modern platforms, integration approaches, and engineering practices
- Ability to convert requirements into clear architecture designs
- Experience producing structured documentation and architecture models
- Confidence working with delivery teams and stakeholders
- Knowledge of secure design and architectural governance

Core Technical Skills
Development
- Java development
- Spring Framework
- OAuth / authentication protocols
- Server-side engineering / backend development
Platform & Infrastructure
- Docker (containerisation)
- Kubernetes (container orchestration)
Domain / Architecture Knowledge
- Understanding of IASS architecture
- Experience working within identity/access or similar secure service environments (implied through OAuth & IASS)
Additional / Desirable Attributes
- Ability to work on scalable, distributed systems (implied through Kubernetes & server-side experience)
