What makes this role exciting
CloudPay is a company that has been growing at 30% for five years straight; we find ourselves at an inflexion point in our technology stacks and IT organisational structure. CloudPays engineering teams build very sophisticated software using open-source technologies with the majority being in Java. We operate out of AWS. Our platform design engineers play a crucial role in the design, building and maintenance of all our software and services.
CloudPay builds, deploys and operates half a dozen customer-facing services and many more backend services across 1000+ Linux hosts and AWS-managed services. The ideal candidate will have a good working knowledge of Linux Systems is strong with scripting in various languages, working with AWS and is a strong study of new technology.

If you’re a self-starter who likes a challenge and is looking for an exciting new Platform Design Engineer role where you will have a real influence and impact on Cloud Infrastructure design, this is the role for you. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly-skilled, high-functioning team, forming an essential part of a rapidly expanding global business within the technology and financial services space.
Main responsibilities
- Provision, Maintain and Design secure cloud infrastructure using Terraform
- Work with Platform Operations team exploring complex technical challenges and incident response
- Build and manage secure CI/CD automation
- Maintain complete and comprehensive documentation
- Work closely with software engineers and fellow platform design engineers across different parts of the world
Experience needed for this role
- Experience working within agile teams
- Experience using ways of working tools such as Jira and Confluence
- Good understanding of the following concept:
- GitOps
- IT Security; GDPR, encryption at rest/in transit, patching, least privilege
- Networking; VPN’s, VPC’s, Transit Gateways, Routing, DNS, Firewalls
- Strong experience in public cloud providers such as Azure, GCP or AWS (Preferred)
- Containerisation and microservice architecture
