Platform Development Engineer
Senior Engineer – Power MOSFET Platform Development
Location: Stockport (Hybrid – 3 days on-site) Company: Nexperia

At Nexperia Manchester, we are strengthening our R&D organisation by recruiting a Senior Engineer – Power MOSFET Platform Development. This role offers the opportunity to shape next-generation power semiconductor technologies within a manufacturer producing over 100 billion devices annually.
About the Role
As a Platform Development Engineer, you will contribute across the entire product development lifecycle, from early concept and device architecture through design, prototyping, validation, and industrialization. Your expertise will directly impact the performance, reliability, and manufacturability of future MOSFET platforms.

What You Will Do
You will join a large, collaborative R&D team, working closely with colleagues in R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, customers, global suppliers, and assembly/test operations. Your role will ensure alignment on specifications, technology roadmaps, and long-term strategy while gaining broad visibility and influence across the full development chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand and interpret Customer Requirement Specifications (CRS) for new products
- Contribute to technology platform and product design using tools such as:
- TCAD (Technology Computer Aided Design)
- Cadence (for semiconductor design)
- Klayout (for layout design)
- Perform data analysis across:
- Wafer testing
- Assembly processes
- Product qualification stages
- Prepare clear technical summaries and communicate complex information to:
- Team members
- Stakeholders
- Senior management

What You Will Need
Essential Requirements
- Degree in:
- Electronics Engineering
- Semiconductor Physics
- Electrical Engineering
- or a related discipline
- Several years of experience in power semiconductor technology development, with a focus on:
- Power MOSFETs (preferably silicon-based)
- Strong understanding of:
- Device physics
- Process interactions
- Manufacturability
- Failure mechanisms
- Excellent communication skills:
- Ability to simplify and translate complex technical information for:
- Stakeholders
- Senior management
- Cross-functional teams
- Ability to simplify and translate complex technical information for:
- Willingness to work on-site in Stockport (Hybrid – 3 days in-office per week)
Desirable Qualifications
- Project management experience, including:
- Multitasking across development streams
- Demonstrated experience with:
- TCAD, Cadence, or Klayout tools
- Hands-on experience with statistical analysis tools such as:
- Minitab
- Statistica
- SPSS
- Root cause analysis expertise, including:
- 8D reports
- 5-Why analysis
- Fishbone diagrams
- Containment strategies
