Opticore IT is a specialist Network Engineer and Project Management consultancy offering a wide variety of opportunities to work within fast-paced, challenging environments across our client base spanning multiple sectors including Finance, Broadcast Media, Telecommunications and more.

Opticore IT are currently searching for a Platform Engineer to work on a large scale transformation replacing legacy monitoring platforms with LogicMonitor developing monitoring configuration-as-code using PowerShell, Python & Cloud Formation. You'll join our excelling team, based in the London area on a 6 month contract inside IR35 with scope to extend.

Purpose of the Opportunity

You'll be responsible for developing modern monitoring solutions, building cloud-based automation and integrating monitoring across critical services, helping to improve reliability, operational efficiency and service resilience. Working closely with engineering teams, you'll have the chance to influence the design, implementation and successful transition of a modern observability platform.

What you'll be doing:

  • Develop monitoring automation using PowerShell, Python and CloudFormation.
  • Migrate legacy monitoring platforms into LogicMonitor.
  • Build and maintain AWS Lambda functions for monitoring and reporting workflows.
  • Configure LogicMonitor datasources, alert rules, escalation chains and integrations.
  • Integrate LogicMonitor with Freshservice, Slack and other operational tooling.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to define monitoring requirements and alert thresholds.
  • Support the decommissioning of legacy monitoring platforms, including SCOM and Veeam.
  • Produce operational documentation and support the successful transition into BAU.

What you'll bring:

  • Expert-level automation skills (PowerShell, Python & CloudFormation).
  • LogicMonitor or enterprise monitoring platform experience.
  • AWS Lambda expertise.
  • Linux & Windows Server experience.
  • Observability and alerting framework expertise.
  • Excellent data analysis skills with a strong aptitude for translating technical findings into clear business recommendations.
  • Documentation Skills.
