Cloud Platform Engineer (AWS)
Location: Hybrid – Camberley (2–3 days per week in the office)
Salary: £45,000–£55,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits
Tech: AWS, Kubernetes (EKS), Terraform, Python, Linux, GitOps, CI/CD, Grafana, OpenSearch, RDS, DocumentDB, MSK, Amazon MQ

Immersum are partnering with a highly successful software business whose cloud platforms support thousands of users operating within highly regulated industries. They're looking for a Cloud Platform Engineer to join their growing Hosted Services team. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone with solid AWS and Infrastructure foundations who wants to accelerate their career whilst learning from exceptionally experienced engineers working on modern cloud platforms.

The Role
As a Cloud Platform Engineer, you'll become part of a collaborative Hosted Services team responsible for building, operating and continuously improving the AWS infrastructure that underpins the company's production platforms. This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll work with a modern cloud-native technology stack, helping to automate infrastructure, improve platform reliability and contribute towards highly available production environments. You'll gain exposure to a wide variety of AWS managed services, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code and modern DevOps practices whilst being supported by experienced engineers who are passionate about mentoring and knowledge sharing.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building, operating and improving AWS infrastructure across production hosted environments.
- Managing AWS managed services including Kubernetes (EKS), RDS, DocumentDB, OpenSearch, Amazon MSK and Amazon MQ.
- Developing automation and tooling to improve platform reliability and reduce manual effort.
- Contributing to CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows, ensuring infrastructure changes are safe, repeatable and auditable.
- Building and maintaining monitoring, logging and alerting solutions to improve platform observability.
- Supporting highly available cloud services, ensuring reliability and SLA targets are consistently achieved.
- Working closely with Security teams to improve platform security, patching and compliance.
- Producing and maintaining operational documentation and runbooks.
- Participating in an on-call rota supporting production cloud infrastructure.

About You
This role is as much about attitude and potential as it is about technical skills. We're ideally looking for someone with 18 months to 3 years' commercial experience in Cloud Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, DevOps or IT Operations who enjoys learning new technologies and solving technical problems.
You'll likely have:
- A strong academic background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or another technical discipline (or equivalent commercial experience).
- Hands-on experience with AWS and a good understanding of cloud infrastructure principles.
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation or similar.
- Some experience with Kubernetes or containerised platforms.
- Experience with Linux administration and scripting using Python, Bash or similar.
- An understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern automation practices.
- An appreciation of monitoring, logging and observability within production systems.
- A solid understanding of infrastructure security best practices.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work collaboratively across engineering teams.
- A proactive attitude with a genuine desire to continually learn and develop.
