Role Overview

We're looking for a talented Platform Engineer to help build the backbone of our software development and deployment infrastructure for cutting-edge marine systems. In this role, you'll design and manage robust CI/CD pipelines, create internal tools to streamline development, and support the integration of software with both simulated and physical test environments. Responsibilities Will Include

  • Development and management of CI/CD pipelines that allow us to develop our software quickly with fast feedback loops
  • Writing tools for internal use to allow improved automation of development practices
  • Software deployment, testing and validation
  • Hardware bench testing, configuration and integration with CI/CD pipelines where appropriate
  • Deploying physical servers when appropriate
  • Working flexibly with the software and engineering teams to ensure software and documentation are delivered on time

Required

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree level qualification in Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years working with Continuous Integration/Deployment (CI/CD) systems
  • CI/CD pipeline development (GitLab preferable)
  • Containerisation (Podman/Docker)
  • Ubuntu/Debian Linux distributions (Or transferable knowledge from other distributions)
  • Python 3
  • Fast learner and a team player

Desirable

  • Modern C++ (14 or later preferable)
  • Automation tooling and scripting (e.g. Ansible, Bash)
  • Mobile robotics projects (e.g. ROS2)
  • Virtualisation (e.g. vSphere)
  • Orchestration tools (e.g. Kubernetes)
  • Networking and Security
  • Web Server Deployment (e.g. Apache/NGINX)
  • An understanding of basic electronics
  • Agile Methodology
  • Proactive individual with strong commitment and self-motivation

Note: Due to the nature of work undertaken at SubSea Craft, the selected candidate must be capable of meeting the security requirements of the position, which would include as a minimum existing right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), with UK National security clearance required for certain roles.*
