Role Title: Platform Engineer
Location: Manchester, 5 days onsite
Duration: 6 months contract
Rate: £480 - £520
CONTRACTOR MUST BE ELIGIBLE FOR BPSS
MUST BE PAYE THROUGH UMBRELLA
Role Description
We are seeking a skilled SharePoint SME / 3rd Line Technical Specialist to support and evolve our SharePoint estate across on-premises and Microsoft 365 platforms. This is a hands-on role requiring strong expertise in SharePoint upgrades, administration, and development.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Operations & Support
- Manage SharePoint farm servers, web applications, service applications, content databases, and supporting infrastructure.
- Administer Search Service Applications, Managed Metadata, User Profile Services, Distributed Cache, and related components.
- Act as 3rd line escalation for complex SharePoint issues.
- Lead SharePoint 2019 to Subscription Edition (SE) upgrades.
- Manage and support SharePoint Online (M365).
- Ensure platform performance, security, and reliability.

Essential Skills
- SharePoint Server 2019 & Subscription Edition (SE)
- SharePoint Online (M365)
- Deep knowledge of SharePoint farm architecture and operational support.
- Understanding of search-driven user interfaces and applications.
- Extensive experience supporting SharePoint Search architecture.
- Crawl configuration, indexing, query processing, and search optimization.

Desirable Skills
- Microsoft 365 stack: OneDrive, Teams, Exchange Online
- Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps)
- Exposure to Microsoft Copilot / AI capabilities
Certifications (Preferred)
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert (MS-102)
- Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204)
- Power Platform Developer Associate (PL-400)
- Azure AI Fundamentals (AI-900)
