We are seeking a skilled Platform Engineer to join our growing engineering team to design, build, and maintain robust cloud platforms supporting modern software delivery.
Role Overview
As a Platform Engineer, you will:
- Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure, automation tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and platform services.
- Support development teams by delivering software efficiently and securely.
- Collaborate closely with developers, architects, DevOps engineers, and delivery teams to create scalable, reliable, and highly available environments.
- Requires strong cloud engineering experience, a passion for automation, and commitment to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain cloud-based infrastructure and platform services.
- Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions.
- Build and optimise CI/CD pipelines.
- Automate platform provisioning, deployment, monitoring, and operational processes.
- Support development teams through self-service platform capabilities and tooling.
- Implement and maintain containerisation (Docker) and orchestration solutions (Kubernetes).
- Monitor platform performance, availability, security, and reliability.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment, and platform-related issues.
- Collaborate with engineers and architects to design scalable/ resilient solutions.
- Implement security best practices and ensure compliance.
- Contribute to platform standards, documentation, and operational procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement in infrastructure and deployment processes.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven platform engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or similar experience.
- Cloud platform expertise in:
- AWS
- Azure
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Infrastructure as Code experience using:
- Terraform
- CloudFormation
- Bicep
- Strong containerisation fundamentals with Docker.
- Experience with Kubernetes and orchestration platforms.
- Experience designing/maintaining CI/CD pipelines using:
- GitHub Actions
- GitLab CI/CD
- Azure DevOps
- Jenkins
- Proficiency in Linux systems administration (e.g., automation, troubleshooting).
- Expertise in scripting and automation (Bash, Python, PowerShell).
- Knowledge of monitoring/observability tools:
- Prometheus
- Grafana
- ELK
- Datadog
- Understanding of networking, security, identity management, and governance.
- Practiced in Agile delivery environments.

Desirable Skills
- Experience in public sector/regulated environments.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps and cloud security frameworks.
- Implementation of platform engineering and self-service platforms.
- Familiarity with service mesh technologies and cloud-native architectures.
- Experience with secrets management and identity solutions.
- Relevant cloud/engineering certifications (AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform).
- Support of large-scale digital transformation programmes.
