Overview

This company are seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to manage and automate hybrid cloud and on-prem infrastructure within a high-volume e-commerce environment. This role centres on IaC, CI/CD, observability, security, reliability, cost optimisation, and advancing DevOps practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and manage hybrid cloud and on-prem infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (e.g. CloudFormation, Terraform), ensuring secure, repeatable, production-aligned environments. Maintain cloud and local systems (Windows/Linux), covering patching, networking, storage, virtualisation, and container platforms. Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, alerting, and automated incident workflows with clear reporting. Strengthen cloud security posture (IAM, secrets, vulnerability scanning) and embed DevSecOps practices while maintaining PCI-DSS compliance. Drive reliability through SLIs/SLOs, incident response, disaster recovery testing, and capacity planning for peak events. Optimise performance and cost across hybrid environments through right-sizing, forecasting, and resource governance. Apply AI-driven tooling for anomaly detection, operational optimisation, and compliance automation. Collaborate cross-functionally, maintain documentation, and promote DevOps best practices.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
