Platform Engineer – CI/CD & Automation Specialist
Salary: £40,000–£60,000 (DOE) Position: Full-time | Permanent

Role Overview
We are seeking a talented Platform Engineer to design, manage, and enhance our software infrastructure workflows, focusing on CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, and hardware-software integration. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for rapid software development with quick feedback loops
- Create and refine internal tools to automate and streamline development processes
- Manage software deployment, testing, and validation across environments
- Conduct hardware bench testing, configuration, and integration with CI/CD pipelines
- Deploy and oversee physical servers as needed
- Collaborate closely with software and engineering teams to ensure timely delivery of software and documentation
Full Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience
✅ Degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering (or equivalent experience) ✅ 2+ years’ experience with CI/CD systems (preferably GitLab) ✅ Hands-on CI/CD pipeline development ✅ Expertise in containerisation (Podman/Docker) ✅ Ubuntu/Debian Linux (or transferable knowledge from other distributions) ✅ Python 3 proficiency ✅ Fast learner with a collaborative mindset
Desirable Skills & Extras
🔹 Advanced C++ (C++14+) 🔹 Automation tooling (Ansible, Bash scripting) 🔹 Mobile robotics experience (e.g., ROS2) 🔹 Virtualisation (vSphere) 🔹 Orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes) 🔹 Networking & security awareness 🔹 Web server deployment (Apache/NGINX) 🔹 Basic electronics knowledge 🔹 Agile methodology application 🔹 Proactive, self-motivated mindset
