Please note that this is a contract role providing services to Microsoft through external staffing partners of Allegis Global Solutions (AGS). If you are selected for this role, you will be employed by AGS and will not be an employee of Microsoft.
Role Overview
As a Platform Engineer at Rare, you will build and maintain Azure-based cloud infrastructure that supports game development and live services. You’ll focus on automating deployments and improving system reliability using modern DevOps practices, while working closely with game teams to enhance performance, security, and cost efficiency. The role combines hands-on engineering with platform improvement, helping shape the studio’s long-term infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and improve hybrid cloud infrastructure (on-prem + Azure)
- Build and maintain automated deployment pipelines for infrastructure (CI/CD)
- Support game teams by designing scalable, reliable infrastructure
- Optimise systems for security, cost, and performance
- Keep infrastructure tools and frameworks up-to-date (patching, security)
- Identify and implement new cloud-based improvements/innovations

Must-Have Skills
- Strong experience managing cloud infrastructure (preferably Azure)
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code
- Bicep or Terraform (at least one required)
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployments
- Understanding of cloud security and best practices
- Familiarity with machine configuration / configuration management
- Awareness of Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF)
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Azure DevOps (pipelines, repos)
- PowerShell / PowerShell DSC
- Bicep
- TeamCity (CI/CD tool)
- Perforce
- C#
Experience
- 5+ years' experience
- Minimum:
- 3+ years hands-on with cloud infrastructure
- 2+ years working with Azure in production
Backgrounds we are looking for:

Additional Details
- Location: Twycross, Atherstone, England
- Duration: 18 months contract
- Shift Timings: Hybrid (Business hours, 2 - 3 days month)
- Pay Range: £306/day up to £344/day (PAYE)
- Weekly Schedule: 40 hours

Pay Rate Range
306 - 344 GBP daily
