Platform Engineer (DevOps)
Location: Glasgow or Edinburgh (Hybrid with UK client travel) Salary: £55,000 to £66,000 + Excellent Benefits Function: Engineering / Cloud & DevOps Industry: Technology Consulting
Build modern cloud platforms that power enterprise-scale digital transformation.
About the Role
Our client, a global technology consultancy, delivers some of the UK’s most ambitious cloud and digital engineering programmes. They seek a Platform Engineer with strong DevOps expertise who can:
- Design, build, and support secure, scalable cloud platforms across public and private sector clients.
- Work alongside experienced engineers, architects, and delivery teams using modern cloud-native technologies.
- Automate infrastructure, enhance software delivery pipelines, and construct highly resilient production environments.
Every project offers unique challenges, exposing you to new technologies, industries, and engineering practices.
Responsibilities
- Build, deploy, and support cloud-native platforms on AWS.
- Develop and maintain Kubernetes environments in production.
- Create and maintain Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK and Terraform.
- Design and improve CI/CD pipelines to enable faster, more reliable software delivery.
- Collaborate with development teams to boost automation, platform reliability, and operational excellence.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and observability to enhance platform performance and incident response.
- Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to improve productivity and delivery quality.
- Work directly with clients and contribute to engineering best practices enterprise-wide.

Ideal Background
- Commercial experience in AWS-based solution development.
- Strong, hands-on Kubernetes knowledge in production environments.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), particularly AWS CDK.
- Practical Terraform experience.
- CI/CD pipeline and DevOps automation background.
- Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
- Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), monitoring, and observability.
- Excellent communication skills and experience with Agile delivery teams.
