Platform Engineer

Seeking a Platform Engineer to support and improve enterprise infrastructure platforms across on‑premises and Microsoft Azure environments. The role focuses on hybrid server onboarding (Azure Arc), infrastructure monitoring (Azure Monitor Agent/Log Analytics), and endpoint security/XDR agent deployment across large Windows and Linux estates.

Key Responsibilities

Azure Infrastructure & Hybrid Cloud

  • Deploy, configure and support core Azure infrastructure services.
  • Onboard Windows and Linux servers to Azure Arc and manage Arc-enabled servers/extensions.
  • Support Azure subscriptions, resource groups and RBAC.
  • Contribute to hybrid cloud integration and infrastructure modernisation.

Monitoring & Observability

  • Install, configure and troubleshoot Azure Monitor Agent (AMA) on Windows/Linux.
  • Configure Azure Monitor, Log Analytics Workspaces, Data Collection Rules (DCRs), dashboards and alerting.
  • Monitor availability, capacity, performance and security events; support reporting and operational monitoring.

Endpoint Security / XDR

  • Deploy, upgrade and maintain XDR/EDR agents across Windows and Linux server estates.
  • Execute large-scale rollouts using automated deployment methods.
  • Troubleshoot onboarding, connectivity and performance issues; maintain agent compliance/health.
  • Support security operations teams with endpoint protection requirements.

Windows & Linux Administration

  • Administer and harden Windows Server and Linux platforms, including patching and lifecycle management.
    • Windows: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, certificate services.
    • Linux: services, package repos, storage, user access, SSH configuration.
  • Diagnose OS, application, infrastructure and networking issues.

Networking

  • Troubleshoot TCP/IP connectivity across on‑prem and Azure.
  • Support DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs and proxies.
  • Resolve issues impacting Arc/AMA/XDR comms.
  • Azure networking exposure: VNets, NSGs, Azure Firewall, VPN Gateway, ExpressRoute, Private Endpoints.

Automation & Engineering

  • Automate with PowerShell and Bash.
  • Support IaC using Terraform, Bicep or ARM.
  • Build deployment/validation scripts for Arc, AMA and XDR.
  • Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.

Security & Compliance

  • Apply security hardening standards on Windows/Linux.
  • Support vulnerability remediation, compliance initiatives and audits.
  • Investigate infrastructure and endpoint security alerts; collaborate with cyber/infrastructure/ops teams.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong Azure administration experience.
  • Hands-on Azure Arc onboarding/operations.
  • Deployment/support of Azure Monitor Agent (AMA) and monitoring via Azure Monitor/Log Analytics.
  • Deployment/support of XDR/EDR agents.
  • Strong Windows Server and Linux administration.
  • AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy knowledge.
  • Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, VPNs, firewalls, proxies).
  • PowerShell and Bash scripting.

Preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft Defender XDR, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Cortex XDR (or similar).
  • Intune, SCCM, Ansible or other deployment tooling.
  • Terraform/Bicep/ARM; Entra ID; Defender for Cloud.
  • DevOps/CI/CD familiarity; ITIL awareness.
