Platform Engineer - OpenShift Kubernetes - Quant Hedge Fund

Platform Engineer (X2) with expertise in OpenShift Kubernetes, CI/CD, Linux and GitLab sought by a large Quantitative Hedge Fund to support further business growth.

This a newly created team separated out of a Core Infrastructure function with a focus on Platform Engineering, Developer Tooling, plus some Production Operational Support. The team collaborate heavily with diverse stakeholders - typically peer Technology teams (Data, Software and Infrastructure), Quantitative Development, as well as Quantitative Research. This is a highly lean and flat, non-hierarchical business which has very little in the way of siloes - unlike many of their industry peers - and therefore engineers are fortunate enough to take ownership of projects and relationships end-to-end across the firm. This operating model requires strong collaboration, communication and stakeholder management skills.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
