Role: Platform Operations Engineer
Location: Leeds / Hybrid
Salary: £38,000 - £43,000 (DOE) + excellent benefits

I’m looking for a Platform Operations Engineer to join a growing technology team supporting critical business platforms and cloud infrastructure.
In this role, you'll help manage, secure, and continuously improve Microsoft-based platforms, working across Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and modern endpoint technologies. You'll collaborate with engineering, application support, security, and third-party suppliers to ensure services remain secure, resilient, and high performing.
Key Responsibilities
- Administering and supporting Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and associated cloud services.
- Managing endpoint management and security, including device configuration, compliance policies, application deployment, endpoint protection, and lifecycle management.
- Supporting server, platform, and infrastructure environments across production and non-production systems.
- Implementing and maintaining platform security controls, secure configurations, and hardening standards.
- Supporting vulnerability remediation, security improvements, and CIS Benchmark recommendations.
- Carrying out platform maintenance, security patching, upgrades, and planned out-of-hours maintenance.
- Monitoring platform health, availability, and performance, responding to alerts and service issues.
- Investigating and resolving platform, infrastructure, and security incidents, including root cause analysis and problem management.
- Supporting Change, Incident, and Problem Management processes.
- Assisting with disaster recovery testing, resilience exercises, and business continuity planning.
- Developing automation and scripting solutions to improve operational efficiency and reliability.
- Working closely with Engineering, Application Support, and third-party suppliers to deliver platform improvements.
- Maintaining technical documentation, operational procedures, and runbooks.
- Supporting the delivery of operational, security, resilience, and service improvement initiatives while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

- Microsoft Azure administration
- Microsoft 365 & Entra ID administration
- Windows Server administration
- Cloud-hosted infrastructure and business-critical platforms
- Secure configuration and platform security best practices
- IT Service Management (Incident, Change & Problem Management)
- Monitoring, alerting, and service management tools
- PowerShell or similar scripting experience
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
Desirable Skills
- Microsoft Defender technologies and Secure Score improvements
- Azure Monitor and Log Analytics
- SQL Server administration
- VMware and virtualised infrastructure
- CIS Benchmarks, NCSC guidance, or similar security frameworks
- Disaster recovery and resilience testing
- Networking, firewalls, and connectivity troubleshooting
- Experience working within regulated or highly governed environments
