Platform Owner
Product Owner – CI/CD Platform Team
About the Role
At Nationwide, the CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery) Platform Team delivers automated pipelines that enable efficient and secure software delivery for our engineering teams. The team integrates, supports, and orchestrates the full range of CI/CD tools, platforms, and frameworks, leveraging DevOps automation techniques to continuously enhance our CI/CD product offering. We adopt a Product mindset, focusing on designing, operating, and improving the platform while prioritising the needs of our engineering teams.
We are looking to expand our team with an experienced Product Owner to drive our CI/CD product roadmap. In this role, you will shape and prioritise our technological vision, ensuring the platform aligns with engineering needs while aligning to regulatory, security, and operational guardrails.
This highly influential position requires a hands-on Product Owner with strong Agile experience, a technical mindset for infrastructure and DevOps, and the ability to collaborate with senior stakeholders across Technology, Security, Operations, and the CIO community. Your primary responsibility will be to translate business and technical needs into clear, prioritised backlogs, enabling our delivery teams to deliver high-quality CI/CD solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Shape and prioritise the CI/CD product roadmap, ensuring capabilities align with the needs of engineering teams across the Society.
- Work closely with stakeholders (Security, Operations, CIO, technology leadership) to define and influence product direction.
- Translate business and technical requirements into well-structured, realistic, and prioritised backlogs that drive delivery outcomes.
- Collaborate with developers, DevOps practitioners, and operations teams to unpack complex needs and facilitate clear communication.
- Champion an Agile mindset, focusing on continuous improvement and Customer-Centric Delivery.
- Ensure the platform adheres to regulatory, security, and operational standards while maximising efficiency and usability.
- Engage with the wider engineering community to gather insights and advocate for improvements.

Person Specification
Essential
- Strong hands-on Product Ownership experience, successfully delivering Agile projects across DevOps and infrastructure-related tools/products.
- Technical expertise in CI/CD platforms, with experience in automation, continuous integration, and orchestration.
- Ability to break down complex problems into actionable, prioritised work items.
- Excellent communication and influence skills, to engage with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- A Customer-Centric mindset, ensuring our product aligns with the evolving needs of engineering teams.
- Familiarity with DevOps frameworks and methodologies (e.g., cloud-native technologies, platform engineering principles).

Desirable
- Experience working in financial or high-regulatory environments where security and compliance are critical.
- Understanding of hybrid cloud, venture orchestration tools, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Experience with stakeholder alignment in large, complex organisations.
Flexible Working Policy
We understand the importance of well-being and efficiency, which is why we are open to flexible working arrangements wherever possible.
For this role, you will spend at least two days per week in the office or 40% of your time if working part-time. Currently, we are primarily recruiting for roles based at our London or Swindon office. Internal applicants from other locations are welcome, and your hiring manager will work with you to explore tailored solutions if you are successful.
