Overview
We’re looking for a Platform Reliability Engineer who can build and maintain the systems that keep Caledonia running fast and safe. You’ll own the infrastructure behind our products — not just keeping things up, but making them better every day.
This role is about reliability, observability, and smart automation. You’ll help shape how we scale, how we deploy, and how we respond when things go wrong. If you’re calm under pressure and love clean ops, this one’s for you.
What You'll Do
- Design and maintain the cloud infrastructure that powers Caledonia’s products
- Build out monitoring, alerting, and logging systems for real-time visibility
- Automate deployments, backups, and recovery processes
- Help define and implement security practices that scale with the business
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve system performance and reliability
- Lead incident response, postmortems, and process improvements
- Ensure our systems meet compliance and operational standards from day one
What You'll Bring
- 4 or more years of experience in platform, infrastructure, or site reliability engineering
- Strong background in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or similar) and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Pulumi, or similar)
- Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and service observability tools
- Understanding of security best practices and operational compliance in production systems
- Experience building systems that scale, with a bias toward automation over manual fixes
- A cool head, a structured approach, and a drive to make systems better every week
- Willingness to work with ambiguity and help shape technical direction as we grow

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
